Differential Copayment System of Pharmaceutical Expenditure in Belgium, Denmark, Finland and France, and Its Policy Implication

Abstract

|
Pharmaceutical copayment system is widely used worldwide as a measure of pharmaceutical cost containment. But, its disadvantage is known to decrease access to medication especially to essential drug and chronic disease treatment. In Korea, chronic patients might have access problem because of their diseases need life-long expenditure. Differential copayment system according to pharmaceutical- and therapeutical class is a copayment system which alleviate such disadvantage. This article investigate differential copayment system depending on pharmaceuticals which is administered in Belgium, France, Finland, and Denmark to ensure the access of the chronic patients.
